REVS: The Register of Encumbered Vehicles (REVs) is a database where financial institutions who have loaned money for the purchase of a vehicle register their security. Vehicles on this register are generally considered encumbered and could having money owing, or may not be owned outright. They can therefore be repossessed by the bank or finance company. Purchasing a REVs Certificate can tell you whether a vehicle you are intending to purchase has any financial encumbrance registered against it BEFORE you make the purchase.
